FALL LACROSSE UPDATE

Our first ever fall lacrosse season is just around the corner. For those of you who are aching to get started it will be here before you know it!

Play begins September 11th

Fall Lacrosse is different from our typical spring season. In the fall we will not have team assignments, nor will we have practices. We will only meet on Sunday afternoons at your age specific time period. Each Sunday the players will warm-up and stretch before working on a few lacrosse specific drills. After this the players will be randomly split into “teams” and will play a scrimmage. These teams will likely be different each week.

Edmond Lacrosse referees will be present for all scrimmages; as they are using the fall season as part of their training.

Our coaches will strive to concentrate on building skills through drills and the scrimmages.

We have 3 primary objectives for the fall season:

• We want the kids to enjoy the game and have fun
• Build skills for the spring season for both new and returning players
• Prepare for fall tournaments (in Texas) that some the older age brackets participate in

Where do I purchase equipment? And what equipment is required? These are two of the most frequently asked questions. For your convenience we have listed the required equipment for both boys and girls on our website. We also have listed several local equipment suppliers as well as a few on-line sources. Visit www.edmondlacrosse.com/equipment for this information.

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday, September 11th when our fall season kicks off. Please be sure to come by the ELC tent before going to the field so we can confirm your registration information and US Lacrosse membership.

Additional details will be emailed the week before the season begins.

There is still time to register so don’t miss out on the opportunity to participate in our fall season.

Fall 2011 Lacrosse

This year we are going to have our first ever Fall Lacrosse season for both boys and girls. For those of you that have participated in summer lacrosse in the past, our fall season is going to be very familiar. This is a great time for new players to be introduced to the sport and learn basic skills prior to the spring season.

The goal of “fall ball” is to help refresh skills, prepare our players for fall tournaments and the 2012 spring season, and to have fun. Players will participate in the same age brackets in the fall session as they will during our spring 2012 season.

The fall season also will help transition the players if they are moving to a new age bracket. The cost is $ 35.00 per player for a 6 game season, additionally we require every player to become a US Lacrosse member, which provides additional insurance coverage for all players and coaches. Registration will begin in the next few weeks, so check your email and the website often.

The season will begin Sunday, September 11th on our fields located at Cheyenne Middle School. The schedule will be played for six consecutive Sundays and the times are listed below for each age bracket:

1:30 p.m.

Scoopers – Field 7
3rd/4th Grade Boys – Field 6
5th/6th Grade Boys – Field 3

3:00 p.m.

7th/8th Grade Boys – Field 3
High School Boys – Field 2

4:30 p.m.

Girls – Field 3

Due to the inclement weather that we have had, we have decided to postpone Girls Lacrosse 101. It will now be held on Sunday, February 13, 2011 from 2pm – 5pm. This will be presented in one session instead of two. ELC Girls Coordinator, Cheryl Prebula, will be calling all registrants to make sure that they are aware of the change.
